The Soul Corner - "The Tracks of My Tears'
One of the first music conversations I ever had with WYMA's founder and fearless leader, John Hyland, was about today's song. We both marvelled at its perfect construction, unforgettable lyrics and array of pop hooks.

I think the discussion was about the fact that Berry Gordy thought it was Smokey's best song... apparently his only suggestion to Smokey was "keep repeating that chorus" and that's why it gets repeated so many times. May be an apocryphal story, can't recall where I heard or read it...
